Painless Root Canal Treatment (RCT)

A root canal is needed when decay or injury reaches the nerve of the tooth, causing pain, sensitivity to hot food, or a swelling near the root. The treatment removes the infected nerve, disinfects the canals and seals them — saving a tooth that would otherwise need extraction.

With modern anaesthesia and rotary instruments, RCT today is genuinely painless and often completed in a single visit. A crown is usually advised afterwards to protect the treated tooth.

Our first principle is to save your natural tooth wherever possible — extraction is the last resort, not the first suggestion.

Frequently asked questions

Is root canal treatment painful?

No — the tooth is fully numbed before treatment. Most patients say it feels similar to getting a filling. Mild soreness for a day or two afterwards is normal.

How many visits does it take?

Many cases are completed in a single visit of 45–60 minutes. Badly infected teeth may need 2–3 shorter visits to let the infection settle.

Do I really need a crown after RCT?

For back teeth, almost always — a root canal treated tooth becomes brittle, and a crown prevents it from fracturing under chewing forces.
